I've had a search through the site and not found it, apologies if it's been covered before.
I noticed last night that the bootlid release on the key remote had stopped working, it also transpires the alarm won't arm or disarm either. LED was still coming on and was working seconds before. I changed the battery anyway but still no good. I need to get the spare key to see if that works, or maybe reteach the remote to the car.
I wonder if the alarm fuse blew? or is there a reset sequence? Not had the time to look as it was very dark when I discovered it. I know I'm very wet from the ride in at the moment though >:(
Key unlocks and locks car without alarm going off. The only oddity was the lights for the fog lamp switches being blown but that may be coincidental of course as I've not driven her at nght much yet.

If your other key works fine, I'd suspect the remote fob has failed - PM member Martin Imber who does repairs.

did the alarm ever work? May have been disabled, or does the gls have one? Does the button by radio work for the boot?

fair point about the alarm. Maybe it's just the central locking. Assumed it was alarmed as all my Vaux/Opels have been for ages but there again they've all been CDXis and the like. No the boot release has stopped working too. Light still comes on but no function. I need to get the spare off my mate to try it. Can you reteach the fob to the car or is that just alarm versions?

no alarm on gls.
sounds like fuse/ecu around central locking
same method to resync EXISTING keys to ecu whether alarm or central locking

I'll give it a go. If both keys are the same it'll be the car, if the second key works it'll be the remote. I never relaised the GLS was so basic., lovely drive though. I keep pressing the button for the cruise control only to find it not there, and then looking for the trip comouter, and wind down back windows. It's like going back 30 years.

Yeah, it is the poverty spec, only beaten by Plod 'Special' (and Select model available on early Omegas).
On the upside, cruise, leccy winodws, trip computer (but not check control) etc are all easy upgrades :y

it is a bit basic but it's only a car as such, bodywork is superb and I liked it. Sorted key, just needed resetting for some dumb fook reason. May add a few bits later on but it oes what it needs to do. I'll get the rocker gaskets sorted first, then a new screen afte r asingle stone chipped and then cracked the new one only 3 weeks after fitting. Aaaagh.
