Title: crank sensor
Post by: driver on 26 July 2009, 20:17:21
hi all
im pretty sure i have a faulty crank sensor after reading some old posts.
Bit of hesitation which i thought could be transmission fluid or something but latest problem is car runs fine then leave it for a while and wont start . keep trying then all of a sudden fires up and ok. Going to do paperclip test but i keep reading 19 is crank sensor but looking on fault code list for 2.5 v6 19 is rpm . can someone help me with this .
many thanks

The crank sensor reports the RPM to the ECU, so if the crank sensor has failed the ECU gets no or incorrect RPM information .. so reports that .. "incorrect RPM signal" ...

To correct the problem you fit a new GENUINE crank sensor which gives the ECU the correct rpm signal .. :)

The ECU for the fuel and ignition then knows EXACTLY when to give the next squirt/spark as it now knows the rpm of the engine ... so it starts and runs properly :)
