My mate has exactly the same miggy as mine a 53 2.2 automatic CDX and he wants to emigrate to south Africa where he has been offered a great job.
Thing is there are Opel Dealers there, but hardly any parts for the miggy and everytime he has a problem with the car he will be forced to buy from the UK.
So he wants to stock up on parts that will are known to fail mostly with the 2.2. I have suggested a few to him (obvious ones) like cambelt kit, brake parts, suspension parts, service kits, etc etc.
I would really appreciate on his behalf if you can suggest a few parts.
Many thanks :)

not sure about that but it might be a idea another thought is not a fault but a extra spare key just in case.

Thanks for that. Would never have thought of it. I suppose i would need manifold gasket as well ?

dare i mention, head gaskit...? Exhaust manifold studs...? Exhaust itself, incl flexi pipe? May be cheaper to buy something out there tbh?

HG fails due to poor coolant servicing.
They are good for 170k

170k miles is very impressive, i thought the 4 pot were more susceptible to HG failure.

TBH.. i have had 3 miggies since 2002 and have never touched the manifold (touch wood)..but i have done about 50k miles in all 3 cars.
What causes the manifold to crack ?
