Title: steering judder

i've noticed that i'm getting considerable steering judder under heavy braking,also noticed that just over 80 mph through accelaration same thing happens then it dissapears.when changing lanes on the motorway at this speed the same thing happens but only when overtaking and not when pulling back in.any thoughts?

A cpuple of things to check.  have you had the wheel balancing checked regards the speed judder.

A common thing for juddering under braking is slightly distorted disks as they get thinner.  it has been mentioned a few times on the forum that maybe after a heat build up (high speed driving, motorways etc) and then sat in traffic que'swith the brakes on rather than using the hand brake.  little things   You may be able to see a problem with the disk if you jack it up (plus use axle stanks) and take the wheel off and have a look.

have been pondering putting new discs and brakes as par for the course,might help,wheel balances are fine,had them checked last week.

Dont put cheap ones on.

Go for genuine on TC Card, or a good quality if you dont use genuine.  :y

I got rid of the exact problem you described with a pair of new discs. Old ones were very slightly distorted and unevenly warn and I had a very slight judder at about 80mph  :-X Money well spent  :)

ok had same probs
jobs done
1,new discs and pads all round. helped a little
2, wishbones bushes wear out bad judder prob. (buypartsby best price good quality) marked improvement
3, new tyres all round and balanced with full geometry done by wheels in motion of chesham.
JOB DONE if in doubt and are close enough just go see the boys at wheels in motion well worth the drive.

this may sound like i am blowing smoke up their arses but WIM are simply superb they talk to you explain what they are doing and why, their garage is spotless.
they treat your miggy with the same respect as any of the other motors in there (last time i was there it was a DBS and a 911 (!! oddly the DBS was being weighted down with massive weights lol)

they even retapped a threaded wheel nut no charge and no gripping
