hi all
when i got home at 2am the other day, i scraped the passenger side rear door as i too tiredly turned into my alley 50 feet from my house - a corner I've done a thousand times without a problem.
The plastic door panel took the most of it, but it has also scraped the paint & misshapen the door a little.
the paint's z147 82l metalic - is metalic paint worth working on, could i get a decent finish or should i be extravigant & ask someone breaking a suitable miggy & just changing the door ?
thanks for any help - martin
P.s. I just wanted to mention that markey mark did my cam belt & a service last week, he also told me i needed to get a new MAF Sensor which i fitted yesterday - it's running absolutely fantastic now, purring like a kitten & it's got all it's power back, not dropping a beat in any gear. I feel a good job's worth mentioning, a great price even though he had to work around the LPG pipes etc. Every time I start it I've got a massive smile on my face ;D ;D ;D

If the door is damaged its probably worth trying to find another in good nick and swap them over.
A good bodyshop would be able to blend the paint in, cant imagine it would be cheap, especially if you need to straighten the door first.

You are fortunate, Star Silver is a very common colour for Migs, you may be better off waiting til one of our breakers has one in, a door would be cheaper than a repair in this case.

thanks fellas
i thought a swap would be the way to go, but it's always worth asking in case one of the oof collective have a handy tip to share :)

hi mark
how would you have dealt with it ?
thinking about it if i'm potentially changing the door, i might as well have a go & see what happens :)

Hello mate, for a start you would have to get the original shape back as best as you can to reduce any filler work, then fill, rub down prime and paint plus laquer basically speaking. :y

Are you good at car painting, do you have a workshop with all the bits if so where abouts are you?

unfortunately my painting experience is a dusty alley way, a bit of emery cloth & rolf harris on the telly !
breaker doors seem to be £25ish, which has to be cheaper & alot easier than beating panels into shape :)
thanks for all the advice - Martin :y
