Title: Filling Auto-Gearbox.
Post by: Pete Elite on 10 August 2009, 00:32:58
I've been having a bit of slipping and clunky changes on my Autobox which I've been putting down to an overheating problem i had(hopefully solved now)as it only seemed to do it when the engine got very hot(over 100 degrees)but i thought I'd check the fluid so did it as stated in the how to section but only managed to get about 3/4 of a litre in and when lowered car it still didn't come out ::).
Whats the best way to put the fluid in as the bottle i got has only got a short pull out tube and you can't get the bottle high enough to pump it in >:(.

              Any suggestions appreciated :y.

i got a bit clear pipe from b&q that fits perfect into the bottle nozzle and into the gearbox filler.about 10mm diameter and only about a pound a meter.about 40cm length is enough to get the bottle high enough to squeeze it in with no mess.

You want a length of hose long enough to be able to pour the fluid into the box while standing...then a funnel slotted in the end to get the fluid into the tube and be careful not to let the hose come out of the filler hole while pouring lol :y

Thanks all for your suggestions.
I managed to get a length of clear pipe which fitted snugly in the bottle's tube, certainly makes life easier :y.

I may have cheated and copied the technique from someone on here Alf  ::) ::) Works well though...have my tube/funnel in the garage just in case its needed although doubt it will be on my manual Zafira now lol
