Title: Fuel pipe has air bubbles?2.5 td
Post by: spikerz on 13 August 2009, 18:42:44
The fuel pipe that goes to the injectors pump from the first injector nearest front of car.On mine its a clear pipe, there's air trapped in it and bubbles rise from the first injector when running and after switching off.Is this normal?
I'm just trying to find anything that could be causing my stalling problem.
I have fault code 64 - fuel quantity control out of range.

at the bottom of the injector if theres diesel or oil when it heats up it bubbles making it look like the injector seal.stop the leak, probally will be diesel ,leakoff pipes or the metal pipe that goes to the top of injector may be a bit  slack.and hopfully the bubbling will stop. as for the clear pipe , i dont know, mines a black one, which i believe is the diesel return pipe

the bubbles are inside the clear return?pipe(which probably should be black, proper braided fuel pipe, been changed at some time.)i changed all the leak off pipes as they were perished and leaking when i got car.cant see any leaks anywhere now.(recently cleaned/degreased engine, pressure washed .so it will be easier to find leaks etc.)

I had the injector cover off mine yesterday and #1 injector is wet at the base. The cotton braided hose that links to the #2 injector is soft and the braiding is hanging off. Looks like a new set at the next service :(

Had to think what the injector cover was there...mine is missing. When i got the car,i found some new bits of pipe in the door pocket.Think the previous owner done a couple but left the rest. When checking them i noticed a couple were wet and when i pulled them off the pipe broke.i could snap the pipe it was so brittle.probably original pipe from new.Worth replacing all of them with new pipe.

Buy a length of pipe from a local motor factors and cut to length.
Shouldn't cost more than a few beer tokens max  :y

It'll cost me less than most as SWMBO works for 'the local motor factor' ;D ;D
