Well finally got around to fitting my £20 2nd hand auto box ... runs ok , only thing is the gear change from 1-2 is a bit rough and when accelarating from lower speed e.g. at junction , r/abouts etc , seems to over rev before catching a gear ... any ideas , could replacing solenoids make a difference ???? Thanks in advance ... Ali

have you checked the fluid level?.

atf level is fine ... fuild a lovely red colour :y

When you checked the fluid level was the oil warm and the engine running and you had put it through the gears (footbrake on obviously) and the car level?

I would have taken the opportunity to change the fluid and clean/replace the filter before fitting the box that way you could have checked the thrust washer wasn't in bits before fitting the box ::)
