Title: Cambelt/Chain...
Post by: Lancave on 16 August 2009, 12:39:01
Hi guys,

Cant find anything on my question within the search.

Yr 2000 Omega Elite 3.0 V6 - Is this a Belt or a Chain?

My Elite has done 53000 miles.

What is the guide on mileage for change if its a belt?

Thank you in advance!

All Petrol Omega's are Belt, which should be changed at 40,000 or 4 years, whichever is soonest  :y

hope yours was done, if not get it sorted asap  :y

Make sure you fit the complete kit, NOT just the belt, as it's the bearings in the idler wheels that tend to fail. Always a good idea to change the water pump as well while the covers are off, but I suggest you go for a genuine GM pump as opposed to pattern, as I experienced a core plug leak in the pattern one I fitted, but you only find this out after you have put everything back together and run it for a few weeks or so  :y
