Now originally was just whining brakes especially when reversing ::).....today from the front wheels schreeching when braking, but even after having the foot off the brakes, normal driving schreeching is still there ::).....now I think it may be the front pads binding, and need changed....any thoughts ::)

Have brand new Ferodo's on the back, done at York meet, was only decent pads could get at York, and 5/6 weeks ago replaced rear discs with genuine GM ones, front pads are red stuff ceramic, have been on a while so maybe due a change.

Have you checked the fronts, jacked it up and tryed turning the wheels by hand? A little rubbing is expected from pads but should still be free to spin. Sliders can stick on theseand cause the pad to not release properly, which will then overheat ond gloss over and squeal.
Of course could just be worn disks or pads not getting rid of the heat and causing it to overheat.
Hope this helps, Al

Hi all,
I've had my Omega two weeks and I'm getting something similar - I occasionally get a metallic squealing from the o/s rear wheel, usually on a left bend. If I brake hard, it vanishes, but it can come back at any time. Seems to happen more when the car has been going for a while. Brakes are fine, and I've eyeballed the pads, and there is plenty of material there. I know that the car was standing for a couple of weeks before I bought it as well. It's more annoying than anything. I'm going to be taking the wheels off next weekend to have a good look - feels to me like poor quality pads, or perhaps the backing catching on the disc.... I'll let you know what I see ;)
