If the system was empty Steve that usually means you had a leak. :-/ :-/

Was it repaired before refilling? :-/

If the gas is leaking out very fast, chances are it is not a valve. If it a case of a replacing pipework, it could work out a bit expensive.

Get an aircon specialist to look mate - 250 pounds????? You normally fill to a weight of gas substantially less than that!!! IIRC its 960gms.
Sounds like yours has been regassed by a cowboy

Not sure
I went walk a bout

when I got back he only had managed to get 50 in the system
it held at that presure

I explaned about the history Of the system so he increased the input pressure.
250 was the most he could force in.

Sounds to me like something is blocked or seased.
 Ideas anyone ??

Sounds more like the bloke didnt know what he was doing. If he vac'd the system then he should have there as a problem before trying to refill. Proper air con equipment is very intelligent to these things but is let down by the idiot trying to use it.
