Hi Folks,
Noticed last night that the carpets in the passenger-side footwell are soaked, front and back. Driver's side is dry as a bone.
My first thought was heater matrix, but coolant level hasn't budged.
I checked underneath the wiper panel (where the access flap is to get to the panel filter), and there was only a tiny bit of water right at the bottom of the channel.
Checked door seals etc, and all is fine. No windows/doors have been left even slightly open either.
Oh, and nothing has been spilt in the car either!
Anybody any ideas what can be causing this??? :-/

I would guess the scuttle where you checked ... check the drain is clear .... exactly the same happened to mine :y
-
I agree with Proz ... most likely point of entry. Get you arm down thee - if it fits! ;) :y :y
-
same happened me yest, get it unblocked , tight squeeze to get the hand in, but hopefully its sorted mine.
-
Check the sunroof drains are clear too
-
Cheers folks, I'll clear it out at the weekend. When I say "I", I very much doubt my arm would fit down. But I reckon one of my daughter's would... I sense a bit of an income generatation opportunity for one of em here! ;D
There was only a tiny bit of water at the bottom of the drain though, and no sign that the water level has been high, but would I be correct in guessing that there shouldn't be any water in there at all?
As for sunroof drains Pitchfork - that'll be easy; mine is lacking a sunroof :)

yup, if there is some water, it has likely backed up and overflowed, and slowly dripped out.
sort that blockage and dry it out, and fingers crossed it hasnt damaged your fan speed controller :'(
-
Cheers Jimbob.
Yes, fingers crossed... I take it symptoms of duffed fan speed controller is that you can't alter speed of fan? If so, I think it should be ok, because I had the heater on this morning and altered the speed of the fans - it seemed to be working fine.
-
yes, confirmed working then, although i beleive it can take time for symptoms, but you are aware of it now anyway, so can watch out for it

You can poke something down there to clear it out :y

Think i heard once on vvoc forum, that when you have had your air con on,the condense drips onto the carpet, dont know if that was just the vectra or relates to any car.Just a thought.

I can confirm that on mine the a/c condensate has been dripping onto the road. It is pretty hot and humid at the moment.

It won't be the matrix as it's on the driver's side :).
You say you haven't got a sunroof, does that mean it's an ex cop car as maybe when it was decommissioned they left a hole through the bulkhead or something similar :-/.
