Just reading the thread on changing the rear dohnit bushes, took an interest in the comments regards Dunlop Sports max tyres So went look for tyres.
Came accross this site,

Handling wise the best tyres I have had on a car were Dunlops fitted on my Sylvia turbo, sadly my driving habbits only managed 4000 miles on the 1st set of rears before I turned them into slicks (That included running the car in from new :-[ ::) :-X) So am keen to try some on my Elite.

somebody on a recent post was REALLY complementary of the Falkon FK452's on their elite in a 17inch size.

I've used a couple of sets of SP Sport Max and they do offer a good level of grip and wear IMHO.
The biggest downside I noticed was noise. They are not a quiet tyre.
They have also increased in price recently relative to other tyres making them less attractive. I've recently replaced my rears with Sport Contact 3s and the decrease in noise was welcome.
Chrisgixxer had concerns about the Falken 912s and we did a swap for a while. They weren't as noisy as the Dunlops but neither were they as grippy and we were both of the conclusion that something was "not right" about their handling / directional stability.
Not sure if this is also relevant to the 452, of course.

452s are good, I had them for a while but now I have the slightly cheaper and longer lasting 912's as all I do is motorway miles. I find them good wet and dry, dont really chuck the omega around as its not a sports car so wouldnt know if they are any good on the limit.

If you can get 'em, Toyo R30s are lovely and sticky.

The noise would put me off in that case. I want the performance and grip of agood tyre but not at the expence of noise. I dont drive the Elite hard at all, but it's nice to have the confidence of good all round grop for when i do.
I have Avons ZV3 all round on my2.5 GLS and am very happy with them, if it was a manual 3.0 then maybe not

Another vote for the 452s - excellent tyres and very well priced on camskill :y
