The time has finally come for a replacement exhaust on my 53 plate 2.2. To be honest I think six years is pretty reasonable for the original system though.
I've read here that the system Vauxhall supplies now is no longer a GM product so I wondered if anyone knows if what they're selling now is any good. I've also seen a couple of posts mentioning doing away with the catalytic converter...How does that work? Does anyone know of any alternative systems please.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate, as I do not want to lose the quietness of the original system.
Thank you in advance and thank you everyone for a great forum. :)

The last GM one I fitted to a 2.2 wasn't as good as the one I fitted previously :'(

GM ones are not the quality they once were, your better off fitting Etheral systems, iic around £120. Quite a few people have them and are happy.
Someone also got a stainless steel one for the same money from poland on eBay

Vauxhall have quoted me approx £500 for the system not including the downpipe which is ok and I've just had the manifold bolts done. I'm not 100% sure if the cat needs doing though. So £120 mentioned for the Etheral system sounds good. Where are they available from as i just googled it and didn't get anything. Thanks for the replies.

Try Eternal ::) ;D

Thanks for the correction. :P I've looked at eternal on ebay and it's a bit tricky to work out which bits are suitable for the 2.2. Also I've heard there may be some issues with sensor attachments on non GM exhausts. Is that likely to be a problem...
