I have just arranged Autoglass to come and fit a replacement windscreen to my Elite - I was just wondering if they should replace the trim/rubber part as well when replacing - does anyone know??
May seem a daft question to some but I know that the last screen I had fitted to a 7 series BMW needed new trims as you couldn't re-use the originals without risking windnoise and leaks.

Had my windscreen changed just over a week ago, due to kids throwing stones. Cracked it right in the middle of the field of view. When they changed it the rubber was ok but they tried to keep the old seals but they wouldn't hold so they replaced them. The external rubber seal was re-used

Autoglass replaced all my seals / rubbers when they did my screen last month ;)

Autowindscreens have replaced the top/side trim with new but had to re-use the bottom one both times as they can't get them ::) ::)

They should replace the seals wherever possible as if they put the old ones back they can become distorted & pop out in the future :y

That's interesting!
Our Ashford Autoglass replaced seals 6261ASMS and 6261AKOS, and all is new 8-) 8-). Is there another seal involved? :-/ :-/

Autoglass did mine last week - replaced all seals apart from bottom and external rubber seal (can't get either from Vx or elsewhere easily)

National re-used my old trim and seal. They had to come back twice to fix it. Once to replace the seals because they had broken one side removing it (causing wind noise) and then again to replace the trim because it kept popping off. Autoglass came to do my wife's Laguna at the week-end and automatically replaced everything. Seems to be Autoglass policy. No problems at all with it!

Thanks for all the replies - I guess I shall have to supervise the fitter to make sure that he replaces everything to my complete satisfaction ;D
