Cambelt change is due every 40K miles or 4 years, whichever the sooner. :y
Dont forget to change a full kit and not the belt only :y

The need for a cam belt shouldn't put you off buying a car :-/. It's simple enough and relatively inexpensive - around £100 will buy you the kit. You can then either fit it yourself or employ one of the various members who can help/fit it for you. :y :y :y

And if it is due a belt kit then ask them to reflect this in the price, can but ask :y.

I would suggest that it's sensible to change it anyway, whatever the car, unless it comes with documented proof. ;)

Certainly worth a try - mine is due in about 10k so I used that as a negotiating tool with success :y

Last time i got one done it cost me about £300 on a mv6 so in my view that turns a cheap £700 runaround into a £1000 runaround which is more than i wan't to pay. He won't budge on the price as he say's its already cheap, it also needs the rocker gaskets, breathers etc doing and not having driven it I would reckon on a set of lower arms as most need. all in all it wouldn't end up a cheap car.
