Title: Noisy exhaust

I've been told by fitters that a replacement exhaust on an omega is always noisy.  I really hope this isn't the case as I'm having to have the radio on deafeningly loud to drown mine out. Any solutions? :-/ :(

No way the exhaust has to be like that.
It's terribly noisy only if it has a hole inside it or is a complete cr...

Is it a Vauxhall exhaust?

Can you tell us what make it is if it isn't Vauxhall?

I stopped going to fast/quick/rapid fit type places 20 years ago for my Vauxhalls when I realised that genuine parts lasted 7 or 8 years whereas the nasty ones lasted 2 while strangling performance, reducingincreasing fuel consumption and sounding nasty.

IIRC from previous posts vauxhall no longer supply the 'proper' exhaust. It was double walled I think ? From what I have seen on here they now supply a cheaper pattern type part so you might as well save the money and go pattern to begin with.

Pattern exhausts are I believe usually a bit noisier than the old genuine exhaust.

Do a search of the forums it has been discussed quite a few times.

The guy i bought my Miggy from spent over £300 having a cat back patten system put on and over 18 months later it is still noisey they do take some time to "carbon up" but mine runs on LPG so it may take a while longer yet !!!!!

Next time i will have a stainless system made  ;) ;)

I have had stainless steel exhausts on my Land Rover and Range Rover. They sounded more tinny than a genuine exhaust and didn't seem to last any longer.

Silencers and bits that can be made from flat or rolled sheet were high grade shiny SS and didn't rust but the formed pipes were made from softer SS which suffered surface rust. The worst rust occurred on the welds. It looked to me as though they had used plain steel welding wire. Maybe they should have been TIG welded :-?

Pattern exhaust are NOT always noisier, depends what you buy.
Did you change the complete exhaust or just the last section?

I have a stainless steel exhaust with life time guarantee, even with the mild sport package I choose its stilll not noisey, can hear my stereo fine at all speeds.

for the record i had a stainless scorpion exhaust on my gsi 3000 24v, it had a nice burble but was reasonably quiet(even with decatting) in normal to fast driving( as i did say when sold it, if it was noisey he would see it again) and when it was given death it sounded the part, nice exhaust note at a chipped 7000rpm and still not really loud. after 8-9 years and two cars was nicley coloured, with heat and still in real good nick. if they do one for this, ill buy one!  just contacted them to see if the do waiting for reply although i expect a....    no sorry
