Title: Choke
Post by: vegasgo on 02 September 2009, 17:38:17
Hi, when I start up my 2.2auto from cold, the choke jumps around the 1200rpm mark and doesn't reduce, hence the the cats aren't warmed up properly so when I pull away it doesn't change gear. Any suggestions? Cheers.

sorry, not entirely sure I understand the question?  1200rpm sounds about right for the warm up cycle, dropping to around 750rpm once warm up cycle complete

Anyone? It doesn't drop, stays at 1200rpm until I have to presss the ac, then drives off in first gear and doesn't change.

It is normal that it wont change gear for the first couple of meters, I believe the cats must be a certian temp first.
when you start you say that you have about 1200 rpm with the cold start. does it go down when you Blip your gas?
if so its normal. you could try and spraying a bit lube on the moving parts they might be a bit dirty.

If its an auto put it in winter mode(snowflake button beside gearshift) for the first half mile to overide the warm up cycle. :y
