Title: Strange noise when cornering
Post by: nuclear onion on 05 September 2009, 18:00:17
I recently swapped my old miggy for a W reg V6 which runs like a dream except that sometimes when cornering it makes a noise from the front nearside wheel. The best way I can think to describe it is that it sounds like a traffic cone is stuck under there and being dragged along but there is no signs of anything rubbing on anything else.  I have no idea what the problem is and would be grateful for any help.

Agreed, mine rubs on the mudflaps when cornering. No sign of any damage apart from the flap not being clips to the liner. Noise stops when I clip it back on.

Also check check your front tyres for uneven wear patterns

Mine does a similar thing. Only when It is turning left and decelerating / braking. Connected to the wheel rotation speed and sounding like metal to rough metal grinding noise.
It scares peds quite nicely...

I checked the mudflaps and tyre wear patterns when I first got the car and everything is as it should be so I'm inclined to think its something else

you could remove the mudflaps then take it for a spin to see if the noise stops. :y
