Title: Locked out - flat battery
Post by: charliec on 08 August 2009, 08:49:41
Hi, can anyone help with a desperate catch 22 situation?
My dad is locked out of his CD 2.6 Auto owing to a flat battery. So the locking system won't allow the doors to open, and we can't get in to release the catch for the bonnet to replace the battery.
The car is stuck on the driveway and all we can think to do is smash the window :(
There must be a better way. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Can you not use the key manually in the door lock, drivers side, should work.

as said, key in the door. Have read on here that it may well be very stiff to turn and the pin may not pop up, but the handel should be free to open the door. But note, have not had the issue myself.

Failing either the above, jack up the passenger side front wing and attach jump leads to starter motor.  ;)

Thanks guys. It was stiff, but pulling the handle at the same time did the trick. Should have seen my dad's face!!  :o 2 years it's been sat there!!

Had the same problem, I could open the boot so I removed the boot light unit, removed the bulb and conected a battery charger to the wires.  The boot has to be left open to keep the switch open, the alarm beeps a bit, but you should get enough power to open the doors on the fob in a short time. It worked for me.
