New MAF arrived today :)http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200036445727&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=010
Slipped it in and took it for a run - but its worse than before - horrid flat spot when the pedal is floored at 50 and idle seems too low at 600rpm (but smooth at standstill) :(
Now the question is do I tell the guy it's faulty and I want another or tell him I havn't fitted it but the part numbers seem different - cos no refunds if fitted. :-/
Old unit has the following markings: Siemens 5WK9606 90530463 >PBT - GF30<
& new one is.............................................RF5WK9641 .............. >PBT - GF30<

This is the correct part for a 2.2.....i guess the new one isnt orig vx part then??? :-/
Tbh i would only buy gen vx parts....tho the gen part is £80 ish +vat retail but £60ish +vat with someone with a TC card.
Good luck with sending it back :y

They're both Siemens parts so should be ok. I've PM'd the seller and asked him to double check before I fit it ::) and he's replied by saying its the correct unit. :D
The next question is why is the performance worse? And don't all say cos it's non Vx please. :-X
Do I need to run it for a while for the ECU/Lambda to recognise the change? Fault code P0100 still present with the old unit. :(

Thats strange that your experiencing worse performance that before with the old MAF, I plugged my MAF when cleaning the throttle bodys, and that had no effect.
Very strange that, sorry can't really suggest anything... :-/

Two obvious things here:
1) its the wrong MAF sensor......
2) Its unliekly to be the MAF sensor at fault...
The only part of the code which is the same is the one that states the plastic its made from i.e.
polybutylene terephthalate with 30 % glass fibre (PBT GF30)

Looks like the correct one.
Found it without the RF in the part number.

Have you fitted it the right way round.....

Have you fitted it the right way round.....
No I put it in upside down :-? It only fits one way in order to for the pins to connect. It seems to be the right part made by siemens so shoule be no worse than my old one (which I don't think is faulty anyway).
My emissions light has been on now for 4m and it's bloody annoying. To recap I have:
Cleaned all the breathers
Cleaned & lubed throttle body
Replaced the small semi- clear pipe (just in case)
Oil & filter change (Vx 10w40)
New GM Fuel filter (thought it was worth a go)
New air cleaner (fitted at service 'Cooper')
Checked all hoses and connections (no splits/leaks) and all in good order
Changed fuel brand (it idles better with Texaco)
and finally replaced the MAF - for a dodgy one?
This saga gets more coverage than Tunnie's Eurotrip ;)
So I think next thing to do is Email seller and ask for a replacement or refund :-[

A new air cleaner that is fitted at service 'Cooper'.. how is it?

Did you replace the camshaft sensor recently and put an aftermarket one maybe?
Cause I had same simptoms like you now when placed an aftermarket one

The original post is pre historic ::)
