Title: Floppy front end

It comes to all of us in time I suppose.

My 3.0 estate needs a front suspension overhaul and I was considering converting to MV6 springs and dampers.
The part Nos. for the dampers are 9192291/2 (I think) Does anyone know the part Nos. for the corresponding springs please?
Is 15mm the amount the front end will drop under this set up and would you suggest I replace the drop links at the same time, as a matter of course?

prefacelift i believe use std springs, with the lowering/stiffening done on shocks

:-/ I've always been under the impression ride height is determined by springs.
For shocks to control ride height surely they would only compress and then rebound to a stop point, i.e They would be unable to extend past the pre-determined ride height length. This would lead to the wheels looseing contact with the road on any uneven surface as the shocks would be unable to extend to maintain contact.
At least, that's how I see it. :-/

Ride height is set by the springs not the shocks, although you need to make sure the shocks have enough travel left on lowered springs. I believe you will, but I wait to be corrected. As for drop links, they are under a tenner each and only a few minutes to change, but if they are fine why bother. If it aint broke and all that.

there does seem to be a certain amount of confusion around mv6 face lift and pre facelift suspension.

Have seen posts saying that pre face lift is not lowered. Just firmer. But have no evidence at all to confirm this....? Anyone?

So its on that bassis "i think" face lift only, gets lowered sports chassis, lowered by 15 mill. Certainly comparing my Elite and Kevin Woods customer(not plod) mv6 ride hights(both cars are 52 plate and 3.2) Kevins was sitting on average 15 mill lower.

Shocks are easy as vx prices are very reasonable. Springs however are extortionate, so question is what springs?.....

..... in  my case..... Do Kyb(kayaba) give the same ride as the equivalent vx customer face lift mv6?.....(if i keep asking theyll give in eventually :-) )

The only way to get standard ride height uprated springs for the front is to have them custom made. I'm having a pair made at Faulkner Springs for around £100. You'll get up-rated rear springs with a standard ride height, but nobody makes them for the front.
