Can you hear the pump run for 30 seconds after switching the ignition on ?? Pump is behind front offside headlight.
If you CAN .. then look for airleaks along the pipes from the pump to the shockers
If you CAN'T ... then check the relay and fuse

do you need the engine running or what but i've never heard the pump i will try the relay and fuse also is there any way of checking the pipes or anything
sorry to mither you
thanks Paul :)

Pump is electric so engine does not need to run ... it'll be easier to hear if you don't start it !!
If the pump is good then checking the pipes is fairly easy, but lets start at the pump.
The other thing to check is that you actually have self levelling shockers fitted, they should have the thin airpipes conected at the top of each shocker .. someone might have changed them for non-self leveling due to cost ??

right then it's too late and dark now so i will do it when i'm next home i'm a wagon driver you see but as soon as i've checked i'll check back also just to be a pain can i check the shocks through the boot and those diagrams you sent don't apply to my omega or at least i don't understand them, as you can tell i'm a complete novice but i'll have a good go :)

Check the shocks for airlines by looking in the top of the wheel arch :)
The relay box applicable is the second one in that post ... X30XE engine but perhaps the levelling pump relay is elsewhere :(
The fuse is no 15
I'll try and find where the relay lives .. :(
According to the Haynes wiring diagrams it is Relay K19.. but it does not say where this is !!
-
Relay lives in the fuse box it lives next to the Mainbeam relay from memory
and the mainbeam relay is the same p/n as the S/L suspension one!
-
Yep suspension relay is on the right, black square one next to the identical one for the lights. You can swap the two relays to help diagnose the fault.

its sometimes the case that previous owner fits non self level shocks, due to cost. Air pipe is visible on shock body above the top of rear wheel if self level shocks present.
If car is very low you may need to jack car slightly to see above the wheel.
Has self level ever worked during your ownership?
