Title: My Omega 2.0 16v Saloon V Omega 2.6 V6 estate
Post by: dalyoftelford on 09 September 2009, 08:37:31
I bought my omega in haste and have soon begun to realize its a tad small .... I have 3 kids who are 12,10 and 6 so I ve always had estate cars ,

my questions are

1) My omega 2.0 16v GLS automatic is worth how much ?? Its an x reg 2000 with 91000 miles on the clock mod'd till april tax till sept with a good history

2) The car im looking at is a Y reg 2.6 v6 CD with 123000 miles on the clock what is that worth !

My omega does 30 ish to the gallon on average !
How much worse will a 2.6 v6 be on fuel !

Is there anything i should look at problem wise with the 2.6 ??

Lot of questions I no .. Cheers

Paul

The 2.0 are a tad under powered for the Car size and weight, the 2.6 V6 you would certainly notice the difference or why not go to 3.0/3.2 V6.

In terms of economy, the v6, depends how you drive them, drive a 2.6 auto normal, I would have thought you should be doing 26 to 30 mpg average, or more if you go for a manual.

My first ever Omega was a 2.0 gls Estate Auto, which no matter how I drove it wouldn't return more than 28 mpg, couldn't wait to lose it, I now drive a couple of 3.0 MV6 Estates, one Auto the other Manual. The Manual which is my favourite, returns me 28 mpg average and about 36 on a run, the Auto does about 26 mpg average and around 38 (?) on a run.

As for prices, it’s all over the place at the moment, so cant help there.

To be honest Paul I've never had a 2.6, Ive only played with 2.0 and 3.0's, but I reckon a 2.6 Manual mpg would be on par with a 2.0 Auto, any Auto will kill the mpg when your poodling around town or stuck in traffic, once you get to about 50/60 mph, the Auto box locks up only then is it on par with a manual.

If your really after good economy why not source a V6 Lpg or 2.5 Diesel manual.
