Title: Wishbones !
Post by: duggs on 09 September 2009, 13:13:58
Just had 4 new tyres plonked on, mainly due to the front ones being VERY badly worn on the inside.

Upon checking things over, they informed me that the front wish bones were buggered, causing the unusual wear on the fronts AND a bad clonking noise that I've had for quite some time.

This was shown to me by inserting a screw driver into the joint of the wishbone and levering it.

During a short 3 metre roll and stop experiment sure enough, under braking the front wheels DID shake about and wobble somewhat SO I assume their conclusions regarding the wishbones were correct.

Would you guys concur with this and what sort of monies should I be paying to have both the fronts replaced please.

Yes but, the camber is also likely to be out (it will all need setting up following wishbone change any way)

Than you guys !.

Had a price for my local mechanic to fit a couple of new ones. £140.00 all in.

Why on earth do we put ourselves through all this.

Omegas cost a fortune but we just keep coming back for more.  I love them, although at times..she tests me !

The large front bush has gone on mine. Just taken delivery of a poly-bush kit to replace front bushes either side and a pair for the anti-roll bar. £65.00 delivered. Gonna fit them this afternoon.

Fitted a set of adjustable polys to the rear of my lowered Elite and they are still like new 15-20k miles later.
