Title: 20SEH conversion
Post by: erubus on 09 September 2009, 22:56:06
Has anyone ever tried fitting a 20SEH and manual gearbox to an omega? Is it possible?

I have a carlton/senator hybrid which unfortunately has rotted beyond reasonable repair, but the engine is still great, still starts first time every time after having sat for nearly 8 years now! (I occasionally start it for old time's sake and wishful thinking!)

As I have had so many problems with the engine and now gearbox  in the 2.5td elite auto that i bought last week, I have been thinking about sticking the 20SEH and manual box into the elite.  I know that the cruise control won't work anymore, but is it possible to do this conversion and how easy/difficult is it.  would engine and gearbox mounts fit straight in for instance, and would the propshafts be a straight swap, as with the diff and so on.

basically, is it feasible?

cheers Gill

Is this the 2.0 high compression lump of 12- something bhp?

May be worth it

Need all the electrics for it as well

I'd never heard of this engine before, did a quick search. Am I right in thinking it's got 130 bhp and was only produced in 1987?
