Am I right in assuming the EGR valve on this car is the part that the EGR pipe bolts to at the front of the inlet manifold. In my ongoing attempt to improve the appalling mpg on this car is it worth taking it off and cleaning it, if so what is a good cleaning agent. Assuming that the valve is where I think it is where does the little rubber hose go and why is this area dripping oil?
Thank You

blocking egr on td will hit mpg a bit - diesels use egr a lot to help with cruising mpg

33mpg sounds rightish in an auto. If thats unchipped, that sounds even better :y
Bit low if its a manual though.
Cruise is NOT the most economical way to drive ;)

33mpg is what my 3 TD auto estates have done & do.
I once got 38 by keeping under 70mph.
Real figs , not MID.
I ran out last week after 518mls Mid said range 36, even tho its usualy fairly accurate.
