Title: TOW BAR DIFFERANCES

Hi

Does anybody no if all tow bars are the same .. I mean would a tow bar from an S reg saloon fit my 2000 facelift saloon as im after one but cant find a second hand facelift towbar

It seems that a lot of bars are quoted as fitting both preface lift & facelift. Face lift cars have a deeper bumper than earlier cars so, if the bar you have from the S reg was specifically intended for a preface lift car, you might find that ball is very close to the face lift car's bumper.

 ....... places do now, Omega's are too old for the after market accessory manufacturers. Bosal used to list early & late cars, but they just do one now. If you remember a few weeks back someone fitted an OE detachable bar from a preface lift car to a facelift car & the ball was very close to the bumper. Conversely my detachable was obviously intended for a facelift, the ball is about 6" from the bumper. That's why I said specifically intended  :y

Paul, I'm breaking a 2001 Y plate saloon with twin elec. towbar on it if you're interested :y
