Title: in-line electric water pump

just wondering should the in line electric water pump run constanly.once you turn the ignition lights on(before you start the car)the pump is running,you can hear it insde the car sounds like a bearing away in my pump and before i replace it i want to know if it should run constant any info would help cheers

Not really sure what pump youare talking about here are you sure its a pump thats causing the noise  :question

 i think the pump should run with ingition on, then stop with car started, you might have to have the heating on for this pump to work.

Hi, are you sure its not the SAI pump under the nearside bumper. Often fail or make lots of noise. You can just pull the fuse for it to check. Mine got loud so I had removed the fuse for good. Wont cause any problems.

just tried mine for you.
cold engine pump not working with just ign lights on.
i know it runs ign on when eng hot as it will keep you warm in winter.

not all have this pump....a friends 1999 2.5 didn't

If it's the pump under the header tank you mean, my 99 3.0 Elite doesn't have one either.  :(

its just under/beside the expansion tank has two water hoses and an electrical connection into it.my omega is a 98 reflection.definatly sounds like a bearing
