Title: Cleaning Seatbelts.....
Post by: SeedyV6 on 21 September 2009, 08:04:28
This is probably a dead simple one, but i've never felt the need to do this on any previous car that I have owned.

Good old Homer has a grey leather interior and so has the light grey / cream seatbelts. Problem is they are very dirty and spoiling the look of the interior. Previous cars owned have had black / dark grey belts and didn't show this level of dirt.

What is the best way of cleaning the seatbelts without causing any damage?

Any specifc cleaners you can recommend? Presumably I cannot allow them to get too wet?

(Like I said maybe a daft question, but better safe than sorry)

Thanks in advance  :y

Never done it myself either, but I'd start with a mild solution of Flash & a nail brush. I wouldn't think getting wet would harm the belt, just annoying when you get out of the car with a wet line accross your shirt.  ;)  :y  :y

I am in the same position, miy cream ones are showing the rest of the car up. I was going to try various cleaners, I have a short section from the scrappy to test different stuff on. As for getting them wet, they are man made fibre webbing, should dry pretty quick.

Thanks for all the replies......i'm glad i'm not the only one with grotty belts.....the leather is coming up nicely after a couple of cleans and feeds, which has only highlighted the problem further!

1001 Carpet Cleaner eh? Plenty of that in the house due to my daughter having gone through potty training ;D

Thanks fellas :y

Well don't know about that product but on my seats I used Vanish carpet spray.
Actually I didn't know for some parts of the car which colour they were in the begining ;D First owner made a mess of them and actually Vanish worked great

I remember they used (a bar of) Vanish soap in a test against various products in Practical Classics a few years back. It won cos it worked & cost next to nothing compared with the big named brands.
