Title: Petrol
Post by: N61AOP on 23 September 2009, 17:13:53
Do the higher octane/premium brands of petrol such as Total Excellium work well in the Omega ie. better performance, mpg etc? In other words is it worth paying a bit more for the fuel?

I would say yes, but only a small amount.

the best improvement they give is in engine cleaning.

What do people think of the odd tank of redex injector cleaner? Is it worth a crack every once in a while?

i do notice a good improvement on BP Ultimate, smoother burn and few extra horses.

Couple of tanks do it some good, but no point running it all the time.

I've used Forte Injector cleaner before from recomendation on here, it does need adding when only a few litres (15 IIRC) of fuel are in the tank for the correct concentration.

yes, but there are better than redex.

I use Forte advanced formula gas treatment

If you watch ebay, can normally pick it up a fiver a bottle.

I use it 3-4 times a year....Had the heads off mine last week, and it was commented how clean the internals were.....

Due to good petrol, and occasional cleaners  :y

You have a seperate issue then, 99 fuel won't cause that.

Some people slag supermarket fuel (95 Ron) off but I've never realy had a problem.
Just change the fuel filter when you change the oil and stick a dose of injector cleaner (I think they all do a similar job) in the tank with  about 10 Ltrs of fuel in the tank twice a year And give it a Italian tune up  ;)
that should do the job  :y :y

all depends on how many miles round town you do realy

Not tried it in the Omega yet, but when I used to put Texaco 97 RON in my Saab 900 Turbo, the knock sensor would kick in much less frequently, and it would certainly accelerate cleaner. Economy was about the same, so used to buy it every 4 tanks or so.
