Thursday morning struggled to start the car and assumed it was the spill-off pipes as a few of them were leaking but eventually it fired and off I went. Same again on Friday morning. I never used the car yesterday until mid afternoon and it started first time.
Ended up cycling to work this morning as it wouldn't start. So when I got home I replaced all the spill-off pipes and cleaned out the lift pump. Checked that the lift pump was working - all ok.
Then paperclipped it and got:-
48 Battery Low (I'd got it on charge as trying to start it virtually drained it.)
49 Glow Device General Error
88 MAF Volts High (unplugged so expected.)
Any ideas on the 49? Could it be the glow plugs? A relay?
The glow light on the dash appears to be working normally though.

would think it was the glow plug heater, usually means its on its way out, did that on a mondeo, would take time to start so got new 1 then it was back to norm. :y or it could be the relay for the glow plug but have to ask some one on here were that is cos i dont know :y

I would think two or more plugs failed, You can test which ones on the multiplug with a meter. Some can be changed with the manifold on but it's not worth it.
I didn't believe the manifold would lift off. Needed a nail bar. Buy the gaskets before you start.

Thanks OS, I'll order a full set, but as I need the car for work it's getting a tiny spittle of easy start just to fire me up in the morning :( I gotta say I hate the stuff but needs must.

Well peeled myself off my deathbed this morning to go to work and car wouldn't start, it was if there wasn't any charge in the battery. So out came the jump leads and my 110ah caravan battery (used for camping not a pikey palace I hasten to add!). Heaters timed out, started first time! So looks like some investigation and possible a new battery.
Managed 2½ hours at work, came home at 9am and been in bed since, think I got pig flu :'( :'(
