when driving the car today i noticed a strange scraping knocking noise from the o/sf it happens when ive got the steering left hand down and going over the slightest bump in the road.ive had a look underneath but cant see anything unusual any ideas?

Wishbone bush or suspension top at a guess.
-
wishbones were replaced 7k ago suspension top???
-
Top mounts - large conical shaped rubber that sits under the tower, on top of the strut. Easy to replace. ;)
Quite a common problem.
**Reminds me to get some for my Carton**

hi mikey. when turning right at very slow speed i hear a slight rubbing noise but not always there when straightening up! just check 4 any loose wires/cables in wheel arches! ;)
-
possible the wishbone bushes are gone that side allowing the wishbone to drop and rub on the sub frame bracket. And if not torqued up correctly when fitting new ones they can fail in 7k quite easily......???? Possible?

There is a baring race in there on the omega, can be re greased. Wouldnt say common though...?

Common on most Vauxhalls fo a certain age - I just assumed the Omega would be the same!

Cheers guys will get tore into it on saturday(weather permiting)LOL

The lock stops on the omega are on the back of the wishbones.
If you go over a bump when the steering is pressing against the lock stop it makes a very expensive sounding noise as the wishbone moves whilst pressed hard (very hard with assistance from the power steering) against a lug on the bottom of the front strut.
I first experienced it in a Carlton and it scared me then. GM didn't change this part of the design for the Omega so my best advice is to learn not to hold the steering against the stop :y

Not on Omegas, only seen them wear when the top race has seized (which is also rare)
