UK based owners, get a Vauxhall Trade Club card, and oil is £34 +VAT for 4 x 5l.  Its a good quality 10/40 which works well in all Omega Engines.

Single best thing you can do is regular oil changes - mine are all done at around 3k, so oil cost becomes a factor.  The fully synth lasting 20k myth is simply a marketing ploy to please the fleet managers - don't fall for that one!

All Omegas take same manual gearbox oil, can't remember the exact specs, but remember its blooming expensive

As quoted from the vauxhall tec's dont top up drain all oil out and put fresh oil in the same viscosity, and if you do need to top up dont put frsh stuff in, read that on the omega part on vauxhall, can damage the gearing. :y

How do you get a trade Card? Don't you have to prove you're in the trade?

personally i would not crank engine with no oil in it. Refill, then drop the oil again say 500 miles later.
