Hi Guys,
Can anyone help???
Miggy 98 2.5 vs failed its mot today on trackrod end and spongey brakes!
Got her home bled the brakes fitted the trackrod end fired her up and she sounds like theres a spanner in the engine? (There isnt a spanner in the engine)
Now shes difficult to start when she does my foot is to the floor and she barely makes tickover and is really rough.
Anyone got any ideas she was fine coming home from the mot??
Cheers

check all leccy connectors, maybe accidentally unplugged MAF?
-
hi thanks for that where is the maf sensor located?
-
can't find the pic i wanted there is one someware of the V6 engine bay, iic on the V6 its on the pipe with runs into the airbox.
But if you don't know where it is, suggests you have not unplugged it. You would not have needed to for any of the work done :-/

Do the paperclip test
-
thats whats confusing me never touched the engine other than checking the oil and the brake fluid res but she sounds very ill???

Even if you sucked air into that, it would have nothing to do with the engine.
As EP says, do a paperclip test. and just work around the engine bay making sure all is well.

i will try the paperclip test tommorow im thinkin of just gettin greenflag out in the mornin see what they say but i honestly think listening to her that somthing major is broken

could be the egr. :)

whats an egr???

whats an egr???
ok, so, it takes some starting, when you get it going it sounds like a bag o spanners, if you can get it to rev up i would think it doesnt sound too bad, alas wont tick over & dies. the egr valve is to the left of the engine looking at it from the front on the arm that comes up from the plenum. i had mine blanked of to cure this problem. no doubt others will give you more advice. :y

I was thinking that could have happened
whatever you do, do not start it again.
Best thing to do is to strip it down to take the cambelt cover off - will take you about an hour : take a piccie and we can confirm for you.
if the belt has slipped start praying....

V6 will run and rev ok with maf disconnected!

Interesting, I bought one with jumped cambelt (I do not know if that is different from slipped cambelt, but I would doubt it) and there was NO damage to the engine, when I disassembled it I discovered that there are grooves in all piston where the valves are, so at no point any of the valves will be in contact with the pistons...

You sure you weren't just looking at a standard concave piston top?

I've broken many V6s where the tensioners have packed up or the belt has snapped and the valves have hit the pistons.
