Post by: downsmen on 13 October 2009, 13:02:48
Hi i have seen a lot of mention on this forum about people using a trade card!

How do you get hold of one of these?

Also is it really worth getting one?

£20 per year. Well worth it. Re-coup your cost on oil alone :y

deffo worth having, check the faq section for some savings.

1 way is to join a club, such as www.autobahnstormers.co.uk who give you one as part of membership at £20 a year.

the 2nd is to try and blag one at the dealer, which lasts 'forever' and is free

The easiest way to get hold of one is to become a member of the following club...
http://www.autobahnstormers.org/
For an annual subscription of £20 you get a trade club card. It really is worth it. 5 litres of 10w40 oil from Vauxhall is £25 retail, and about £10.86 on trade card, and there are many other savings like this. You can save up to £150 on certain parts, it really is worth it.

Oops too slow  ;D

Various clubs qualify for Trade Club 'status' Autobahnstormers http://www.autobahnstormers.org/club_information/Club_Information_Pack.pdf for example. £20 a year member ship, but you can recoupe that the first time you buy oil at 4 for the price of 3 ... about £35  :y

Ooops! really realy too slow!  ;D

Totally worth it! Join the Autobahnstormers (other clubs are available but I edit the Autobahnstormers magazine so I'm hardly gonna suggest alternatives) and your £20 annual membership fee entitles you to Trade Club membership. You'll save the cost of joining on your first service. Particularly good deals on TC include front discs and pads for £75 and 4 5-litre cans of semi-synth oil for the price of 3. The extent of the discount varies according to what parts you're buying but on the majority of stuff the saving is substantial.

Yep well worth every penny!

I bought 4 x 5L 10w40 semi and after vat, it worked out at around £9 per 5L. Thats mine and missus sorted for oil changes this year!

better late than never.
See below :-)
Also the halfords card is worth having. Need to blag that though. Easy if self employed or you know someone who is. Or just keep going from branch to branch until someone says yes. :-)
