Title: MV6 engine swap
Post by: cwill144 on 13 October 2009, 18:06:27
I am about to replace the engine in my MV6 for another unit as mine has had it, any advice would be appreciated. It is a manual and I was going to try and leave the AC system un-touched by removing AC pump and leaving it in position when I remove the engine if this can be done.
Any advice would help.
Thanks Craig

never changed a v6. straight 6 diesel needed rads removed.  Again, on diesel, was easier to remove engine/gearbox as one unit.

Autos and manuals have a difference in a bearing on back of engine - one has the bearing, one doesn't.  Apparently easy enough to add or remove this bearing though

yes you can remove air con pump from engine and leaving pipes connected it is a pain in  the bum though. ive just changed my v6 engine after being parked up, :)

Personally I would leave the air con pump where it is in its bracket, undo the air con pipe with the circlip and at the condensor much easier  :y

Try removing the pump, pretty sure you will wish you hadn't though :D

Niether down it myself, but know a few people that have, they reckon V6 and gearbox out in an hour and half (assume they have done a few), with all the other bits still in place.  :-/
