Is there any way to test if the cat is working apart from the emissions test?

What are you interested in testing it for, if you dont want to test if it cleans the emissions?
You can take it off and look at it, to check that its not having any visual damage, or that its clogged.

My car failed the emissions test on its MOT on both petrol and LPG, the LPG is a mixer system so doesn't use injectors i am trying to work out what is common to both systems that could cause it to fail on emissions, both CO2 and HC were out of limits.

Espen what do you mean if the cat is clogged?
What can clogg it?
And it this can happen anyway of cleaning it?

I would think the Cats would have little effect on the LPG, the Tester would normally run different emission Test for Gas (lower spec)?, starting to think something else is wrong?,
If the LPG is single point injection (mixed behind the Air Filter) that would only perform correctly once the car is running at the correct tempreture.

back fireing damages the cat, using cleaning fluids not for use with cat's damages it, hiting the cat damages it( i.e hiting somthing on move), leaving car on long wet grass (engine running) damages cat. there is more but this is just a few.

It's much more likely to set the grass alight, before the cat suffers :y

So to summarise, for my car to fail emissions on both petrol and LPG, do we think it's unlikely to be the cat and more likely to be something further back up the line?
Live data doesn't give any clues, MAF EGR Fuel Trim all look normal but it must be running too rich...
I am desperate to get this car back on the road but i'm struggling here :'( :'( :'(

Is the Coolant Temperature Sensor giving plausible information?

Yes, funnily enough that was the first thing we looked for, live data was giving back the right temp when compared to the dash engine temp.
