Title: Armrest catch
Post by: Hovelite on 08 October 2009, 22:52:44
This might seem a bit petty, but how easy is it to get hold of a new front centre armrest catch for a 2000 reg Elite (black plastic)?

Ta for the prompt reply.  It's only really the latch at the front of the top cover I'm after.  Not sure I'll bother if it means replacing the whole thing... superglue here we come!

I was just thinking I need to re-introduce myself to the scrappy.  Had company cars for the last 12 years and got out of the habit.

Is the centre armrest on a facelift/B 2.2 CD supposed to height adjust by using the bottom handle?

It is only minor, but my bottom handle (!) does not seem to do anything-is this an easy fix??  The rest is a bit low for me and higher would be nice.

Mine is the same - the bottom handle does not seem to do anything when I press it  :-?

The lower handle has some silly little metal bars to operate the catches at the swivel and one good bang the bars drop out. Easy enough to dismantle the arm assembly though.

Any hints on how to do this?  Do I start with the two cross-head screws?  Would be nice to fix it!

I'm just off to work now but I've got a half dismantled one in the gold car I'll pull out and take a couple of pics.

Whe whole swivelling section comes out in 1 piece by undoing the 2 torx bolts (1 either side). Easiest way to describe where they are is to slide the 2 front seats forward, get in the back seat and you'll see them on the sides of the centre console either side of the vents :y

Hiya

I have had the whole console to pieces and removed the armrest altogether by undoing the bolts, but you can't get access to the ratchet, even if you strip it down.  I removed the vents, rear lighter console, everything but the armrest appears to be one-piece and it is impossible to reach the mecahnism.  After 90 mins of messing, I have resigned myself to the fact it will stay like this-not worth the expense of replacing-anyway-the replacement will likely be the same!

Cheers anyway
