Title: engine back pressure problem

2.5 v6 auto omega with back pressure problem , checked breather system all clear does anyone know any other causes as this one has burst a couple of hoses at front of engine , the car is a 95 reg.

Could be your cats mate, when you look at the front of the engine there is a silver/chrome pipe running horizontally to a rubber hose just infront of the Air Con Pump, this pipe blows when Cats are blocked as a rule ;)

There's another one at the other end of the pipe on the drivers side of the engine.
As Daz says if these are blowing out it usually points to a blockage in the exhaust system.

There was a thread on here by someone who found that one of the non-return valves had failed in one of the stainless air injection pipes that bolt onto the exhaust manifolds.

I imagine that would cause hot exhaust gases to pressurise the FAI pipes without there being a fault with the CATS.
