hi all, i have a vauxhall omega 2.6 v6 cd reg 2002.it sometimes fails to start and has cut out whilst driving a few times. would the crank shaft sensor being faulty cause the car to cut out in motion? easy to change? thanks.

Hi Ruby and welcome to OOF, have a look at the link at the bottom of this reply and follow the instructions for the pedal trick and post the codes back in here :y
-
does sound like the crank sensor to me. :y
-
hi, done the pedal test and no codes soming up, although the RAC did record a code of CAS 2 weeks ago when it first played up. However, this week they failed to find a code despite the fact it failed to start and cut out 3 times whilst driving?

easy to change?

can also be the cam sensor.
-
easy to change?
15 minutes.Female torx socket required. :y
There is a guide in the relevant section onhow to do it properly.Dont bother trying to remove the old one, just leave it where it is as a "get you home in an emergency"spare. :y

Yes, do the pedal trick as Welung suggests to confirm, code 19 being the usual crank sensor fault.

Where in the world are you Ruby?
-
dear all, thanks for your helpful comments. i have now booked it in to get the sensor sorted. :y
-
Oh dear,if we knew were you where someone might be able to come round and put it on for you.Save you labour charges. ;).........and probably getting it routed wrongly. ::)
-
If you are local to me, I have a spare cam & crank sensor for the 2.6.
Come on up, try them before you buy one from the dealers. (Sorry won't sell them as I like having the spares.) And I would only recommend an OEM one.
