Anyone know if an auto 2.5td has a DMF, and if so would it be the same as fitted to a manual ?

autos dont have a dmf only torque converter

Bu99er :( I have a complete spare 2.td engine and box.
I had a vibration or chugging on a light throttle load so I had my DMF changed about 2 years ago as a hobble by a friend of a friend.
I supplied the new LUK DMF, but as I was driving away, it seemed better, but only very slightly.
So next I replaced the engine mounts, sensor injector, had the Injection Pump overhauled etc. but the vibration is still there.
Chipped the car a few months ago and the vibration then became chronic. Put the std chip back in and it would subside back to being slight, but annoying.
Now I'm think the DMF was never changed. >:(
Priced a new one last week...£560 + VAT :o
Problem is, if I do the job myself and find that it's the original DMF fitted, there's nothing I can really do about it as it's his word against mine.

Nah, checked everything. Pump was overhauled by a Bosch techie with near on 30 years experience. Fueling side is spot on.
All symptoms point to the DMF, but I've disregarded that as I "thought" it had been done.
I don't recall seeing the old DMF lying around or being shown it when I collected the car. It was up on wheel ramps and they were just finishing off, and when it was finished they were in a rush to go as "the missus had been on the phone". Thinking back, it all points to having had my trousers well and truely pulled down.
But as I said, my word against his if it hasn't been done.
Should have done it myself, but just didn't have the time back then.

Yeah, I've seen the odd one. The price I quoted is from where I bought it last time, but I paid about £250-£280 inc VAT back then. Over doubled in price now. :o

Does the lumpyness reduce if you ride the clutch with the handbrake applied (i.e. loding up the flywheel so if there is any slop it runs at one of its travel)

I'll check on the way home this evening.
I assume that will give me an accurate indication of whether it is the DMF. Last thing I want is to buy another DMF and find the one fitted is not at fault.
I'm getting a chugging sensation when cruising or on a light throttle load, and a judder as engine speed drops when clutch depressed, when approaching a junction etc. Engine will also start to judder if left idling for a few minutes. Raising the revs eliminates this and then it re-appears after the engine has settled for a short while.
Fitting the up-grade chip causes the chugging/vibration to become chronic on a light throttle between 1500-2000rpm. Otherwise it pulls like a train. No issue on accelleration.
If it's not the DMF and it has been changed, I'm gonna feel real bad about thinking it hasn't been done. ::) but I just can't see it being anything else now.

Tried riding the clutch with the handbrake on but couldn't see a difference as the vibration only appears on a light throttle load.
It's not the centre bearing on the prop either. I checked it last week.
Any other way of checking a DMF, without accessing it directly ?
