Title: Orientation of front bush in wishbone
Post by: Big_Roger on 20 October 2009, 15:03:23
Hi,
I have had mandrels etc made up ready to change the bushes in the front wishbones. I have noted on the front bush that there must be a correct rotational position for the front bush before pressing in.

I was hoping to see the position of the old bushes on removal, but they seem to be some cheap pattern bushes that don't seem to have the same stiffening ribs inside the bush that the genuine bush has.

Can anyone help??

Roger

IIRC, the plastic rib is under compression when the suspension is subject to braking loads, so I think it goes to the inside of the front wishbone bush.

yep, face each other on the inboard side. When braking the plastic bit presses on the centre spacer to help prevent wheels towing out.

...or that's the general idea. Shame they don't do it for long.  ;D
