Can any of you guys tell me if this is a seperate part please?
When I Got the car the other week the handbrake wasn't working properly, been under the car to adjust it and whoever did it last replaced the cables and the compensator bar but left the rusty bent adjuster bar, so the compensator bar is at an angle and the brake operates biased to the left side. We've adjusted it to compensate 3 times, at the wheels twice once at the adjuster under the car but after a couple of aplications it goes back to being mainly on the left.
So if I take out the rear part of the centre console and the handbrake lever, can I just replace the adhuster bar?
The Haynes manual doen't show any of this. is there a good manual/TIS for the Omega online anywhere, for blow up pictures parts etc of the car?

You can only get to it from under the car mate.
nothing to adjust inside.
Had to change my handbreak cable aswell and the adjuster threded bar snaped off, so welded a new bar on put a new cable on and it works fine now.
And yes I will be getting a new hand break lever.

You may find that one of the levers at the wheel end of one of the cables is seized. This would result in what you're seeing, possibly.

So, let me see if I have this right, is the adjuster bar part of the lever assembly? so I would have to replace the lever with adjuster as one complete unit? I can't just take of the threaded bar on it's own and buy a new one?

Thanks for that RobG, typical....got to buy the whole thing just for a small part, could probably drill out the rivit on the old one, but pointless if they won't sell you the required part.
I don't suppose anyone breaking a car has one of these in excellent condition by any chance???

Just get one from a breaker (plenty on here).
And set the handbrake up a per the maintenance guide.....dont go fannying with trying to tickle the rear adjusters :y

Yes, follow the excellent guide to the letter & you will have no probs, if you try to cut corners you will never get the balance right :y

OK guys, just been through all the maintainance guides and can't find one that covers the handbrake set up, just the one for serviceing the brakes.

I don't have a replacement handbrake as yet, being a newbie I can't place a wanted ad, and Markey-Mark has not got back to me as yet with if he has one or not.

According to the Haynes manual for example, back of both wheel adjusters, pull handbrake to 3rd click, then turn each wheel adjuster until it locks the wheel, then back it off until the wheel spins free, do this on both sides, as per your guide.

Trouble is that Haynes make a rather stupid assumption that the cable is set correctly....and as we all know, assumption is the mother of all f-ups ;D
Again the details are in the guide. If you want to cut corners and not strip and service the setup then just miss the strip down bits out.
Make sure the cable is slack (and I mean slack), adjust the rear shoes within the discs as described so they are just beginning to rub and then set the handbrake cable so its full on at 5-6 clicks.
We get so many comments about rubbish Omega handbrakes and, to be quite honest, its more a case of incompitence on the setup as people dive in and adjust the cable (which is wrong on just about ALL handbrake setups).
Do it right (as per the guide) and they are trouble free and very effective :y
