The red warning light started coming on today, but dropping down to second gear and getting up the revs turned it off instantly. Any suggestions?
I have a good alternator off a 2Litre, does anyone know if this will fit a 2.5?

Check the drive belt tension/condition.
If good, it will be the brushes.

Cheers, Killer.

Still wondering if a 2 litre alternator will be OK for a 2.5?
Anyone know the answer?

Probably a completely different body, and it will definately be short on current output.
Besides, if it is down to something as simple as the drive belt then you won't cure the problem just by swapping the alternator.

I am waiting for an expert opinion on this, I would guess they were all the same. I stand to be corrected of course.

Well both the car handbook, & the book of lies (Haynes) state they use different models of alternator with varying current outputs....but I guess they could be wrong.

EPC states different part numbers for front and rear housing and as they`re different outputs the answer to your question is no. I would say it`s the voltage regulator dodgy. Have a read of this http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1153772945 :y
