Title: Hi 2 all. Help needed please.
Post by: leeboy on 26 October 2009, 10:48:02
Firstly Hello to all oof members.

I had an engline light on this morn and the car died away down the revs so i kept my toe in it to stop stalling.
It wouldn rev more than idle but was backfiring a bit.
It picked back up and went ok but wouldn rev past 4k.
Done it again and brought on the EML.
Took it to compnter and the codes were 38 & 98.
(02 sensor 2 inactive and 02 sensor low voltage)
Did like a live run and it was then working.
No codes now and going great so thinking an 02 sensor.

Where would this be on the exhaust and i also take it there would be 2 of them.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Hi lee and welcome :y :y :y

The answer to your questions is yes, the O2 (Lambda) sensors are on the exhaust, and yes, there are 2, one on each bank.

Have you had any other problems at any point leading up to this? Poor idle, higher than normal consumption, blowing exhaust?

There are other, more knowledgeable people about and I'm sure they'll be along soon :y :y

Hi.

Haven had no problems at all no. Average around 27mpg exhaust is fine idle is fine aswell.

Only thing is i notice a bit of pinking is it? Like a slight ticking noise at times when cold orcoming off the throttle.

Did it again today a couple of times. Getting a bit p.off with it.

Priced sensors and they are £110+VAT each.
On the run up to xmas is not nice. :(
Would that price be right?
