Hi there all,as you have probably realised I am a newbie that needs help.My car says coolant level on the display but after checking it there is plenty in the header tank before and during use.The temp gauge rises when stationary to the point that the fans cut in at about 100 degrees C.What do you suggest needs doing? Second problem when slowing down if it requires heav braking the steering does not correlate to what is happening on the road and the car may try to change direction instead of slowing in a straight line any cures for that one as well? Thanks for your patience guys and girls

Welcome aboard
idiot matey ;) :y
Coolant level warning will be the sensor in the coolant bottle, either try and get one from a breaker/scrapyard or they are about £30 new from VX with the trade club card.
Fans kick in at about the right point to me.
Is it a strong pull when you brake hard? Check front tyres for edge wear. Most likely steering idler/wishbones. I'd recommend a trip to WIM (wheels in motion) for a full allignment afterwards though
HTH :y

sensor in header tank is playing up - I have the same problem - I replaced the tank with one from a fellow OOFer and it lasted 6 weeks before the error message came up again - try cleaning the taknk out with caustic soda (off the car and wearing rubber glaves!!!!!!)

I've got a whole spare car sat on my drive so i will rob the sensor off that one for a start. The stering change makes it feel like you are braking on ice for a while if that helps. Thanks once again

Multiple problems seem to be a fact of life in Omega land ,,, :D

It's integral to the header tank. ;)

Thanks guys for the help.I liked the comment of multiple problems are common on omega, glad to see some people have still got a sense of humour.

Go on any motor forum, any make, they all have their problems that want fixing. Even BMW and reliable Jap models. :y ;D

I agree, same applies to any car that is now into the autumn of its years .....
I'm not complaining BTW.
-
autumn...is that why it's going brown?
-
Mick's right.
I have a brother-in-law with a 3-Series BMW and an S-Class merc. They both spend more time off the road than on - either with faults being repaired under warranty, or factory recalls.
Who says you get what you pay for!!! ::)

First advice must be stop driving the car untill the breaking problem is sorted out it sounds like a dissaster waiting to happen as well as illigal.
-
Thanks for the advice guys,I've finally had a chance to look at the car and ruled out discs, pads and wheel bearings. The wishbone on the drivers side looks a bit suspect so it might do with being replaced. While I am at it is t worth doing the other side?
