Door mechanism isnt catching when closing the door, Wondering if its a difficult job to take out the locking mechanism, maybe a spring/cable is broke?Anybody had this b4?

Have had this happen to mine, the spring bit that keeps the latch closed came loose with wear and would not close, may be the same thing on yours, had to replace hole catch. Should be done in about 20 mins if all goes ok ::). Remove door card, peal back plastic cover unclip conecting rods, unscrew catch from door, remove from door having unpluged lock motor, fit replacement catch and hope all workes. hope this is some help to you. :)

I've got a drivers door catch mech. if you need one John :y

Tim, thats sounds like the solution alright, thanks.
Would be handy to get that door catch as well but Im over in Ireland and have to get the car past its road worthy check on Thursday >:(. Have to try pick one up locally. Typical these things happen when you least want them .!
Thanks lads

Your biggest problem is getting your hand in to release the plastic clips that hold the connecting rods to the various bits of the lock. I removed the airbag pressure switch and managed to get my hand in from there ..... assuming of course you have side air bags ;) Box of plasters might come in handy depending how big your hands are. ;D ;D

Theses things do happen at the worst times, as mine did go on a sunday with an MOT booked for mid day on the Monday, managed to get it fixed and the door closing at 11.45 just enough time to get to test station for 12 :y. Still failed :'(, tyre, front number plate and a track tod end, nothing majour but you can lean on the door now and it doesnt fly open ;D ;D.

damn, big hands here.....
was just up in local dismantler's and lucky to see a 99 diesal up there. Watched the scrappie take it out, tight place to work in - but the guy just ripped and hammered till he got in to it >:(
Wll have one anyway, will wait till the rain stops to fit it.
p.s how hard is it to drive holding that door closed eh....lol. Thanks god she's an auto.
