Tunnie one simple question please.
You said in your guide for cam cover gasket to tighten the bolts with only 8 NM.
Is that value really ok cause its really low.
I'll need to change the gasket soon but want to check this cause it's really hard to find a wrench with such a small value.
Thanks

yes, camcovers are 8nm.
easy to do over here, the huge chain Halfords have em.
-
Hmm but unfortunately I'm not over there :-/
Well probably my mechanic will have it.
He already changed cam cover gasket for me twice and messed it up both times it seems. So probably it would be best if he simply lent it to me to do it myself

what Jimbob says ^^
It does need to be really low, as it only has to sqaush the gasket slightly, often cause of leaks is people over-tightening them.
As said Torque wrenches are easy to come by here, i have two:
8Nm - 60 Nm & 60Nm to 300Nm, each one was £60 ish
-
I guess my mechanic overtightened it both times.
-
8Nm is also really hard to guess as its so low, i remember you PM'd Elite Pete about getting the gaskets sent over to you? He maybe able to send tools as well?
£120 outlay for those torque wrenches is high, but they have paid for them selves time and time again, use it for oil plug and so on.....
-
Elite Pete already sent me the gasket.
And unfortunately I'm currently broke after replacing shocks, engagement, weedings etc so Torque wrench will have to wait a little longer.
I'll find some garage here to solve this problem for now.
Thanks for all the info.

Also one other question please.
Will any harm be done if let's say bolts were tightened to around 10 NM?

What causes problems is un-even tightened bolts, say 3 on the right are done to 12Nm, 2 on the left to 9Nm, another one to say 15....

You may also be able to borrow a torque wrench with a suitable value from a gun club or target rifle shooting club. Mine is made by Gehmann and has a range between 4 and 12 NM.

Its quite a specialized bit of kit but may allow you an alternate source?? :y
