Title: PAPER CLIP TEST INTERPRETATION
Post by: capoMV6 on 04 November 2009, 05:56:49
Hi guys,

I just did the paper clip test on my Omega MV6 3.0. I read the following error codes :

13 - O2 sensor 1 Open Circuit
89 - O2 sensor 2 Open Circuit
137 - ECU Box Temp High
19 - Incorrect RPM signal

The engine was off during test with the ignition on position II only.  Please help me interpret these. Appreciate it. Thanks

The sequence should have started with 12 and with the engine off you should have had a 31 to (No rpm signal), are you sure it's 13 and not 31?

89 - could be a broken wire check all the 02 sensors wiring.
19 - normally a sign that your crank sensor is breaked. Do you have trouble starting it or does it cut out at all?
Can't help with the 137 apart from checking the ECU had free air movement around it.

No problem starting and does not cut out at all. Check engine light interminently goes on or off. No chenge in engine performance.

Does it go over 4000rpm?
mine had code 19 and would splutter at 3,500 rpm and die at 4000.

None either. The check engine light interminently goes on and off. No change in engine performance. RPM steady at around 500 rpm at idle.

I was getting that occasionally too few months back. No adverse effect whatsoever that I could notice. Was due to bad earthing of the ECU Box. Try checking that out and hopefully it'll stop bugging you with 137  :y

Sorted this one today.  Just had it scanned and cleared the codes. Looks like it was just stored codes.  Check engine has not lighted up since then. Thanks to all. :y
